Just had MRI and have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Hasn't spread yet but it's stage 3a, so I guess there's a chance. Wondering about treatment options

Hi,

Male, 64 in good health (otherwise)

my MRI result came back with one PI-RADs of 4 and one of 5. It also said that the cancer hadn’t spread yet outside of the prostate but was a 3a - so I assume it’s knocking on the door

Planning the biopsy in a couple of weeks to fully find out.

really the info on line is overwhelming and I’m still in a but of shock as there were no symptoms except for a PSA test result of 12 - which I had to insist on from my GP!  My prostate is also large

I'm wondering about the benefits of SpaceOAR - which I can get done privately if my hospital doesn’t offer it. Is it worth it nowadays what with the latest beam focussing of the radiotherapy?
