I’m scared and alone

I’ve just been told by the hospital that my husband may have possible meningoma but it also says possible glioblatoma. I am confused and he’s been discharged to come home as waiting for surgery. No one told me about glioblastoma or even mentioned it. What is it in the letter? To read this when I’ve just brought him home on my own. I’m so scared and don’t know where to start.

  • Hello Starjo

I'm very sorry to hear that your husband was given a diagnosis of a possible meningioma, but that you've also been given information which states a possible glioblastoma. It's understandable that you're feeling very scared and alone.

What have the hospital team said are the next steps in his care? You mention in your post that he's waiting for surgery. Have you been given any idea about when this might be or if he needs further tests or investigations prior to this?

If you were given details for a specialist nurse that you can contact, then don't be afraid to give them a call to ask for more information and some answers. If you don't have contact details, then get in touch with the Consultant's secretary and ask if they can arrange for someone to contact you.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, inforamrion and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them, they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you can get some answers and reassurance soon Starjo. Keep in touch and let us know how you're both managing. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
