Found I out I have breast cancer in December 2025 - hoping to chat to others with DCIS. My emotions are all over the place and I'm waiting for a mastectomy

Hi everyone. 

I wanted to join and have a chat with any ladies that are dealing with DCIS. I am due to have a mastectomy, im just waiting on my date, should be in the next 3 weeks. I have comedocarcinoma DCIS and i am having pain behind my nipple in the breast with the cancer. Is this common, maybe because of biopsies ( although they weren't near my nipple) or should i mention it to my breast nurse? Im really suffering with my emotions, i cant stop crying- is this normal ( especially when i think of my little ones)? Lastly, im so nervous for my results after the breast has been sent to pathology- im scared that its not going to be the end of it. Thank you so much for reading.

    Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you are going through a lot and I can imagine this being a lot to process, particularly as you are dealing with the uncertainty of waiting for results.

    It is common to feel a range of emotions and of course to feel the worries when waiting for results and appointments too. I know there will be many others on the forum who can relate.

    If you have any questions at all then it is always worth speaking to your nurse, so do ask this when you can, if you haven't already.
