Due to start Paclitaxel and Herceptin (and worrying)

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing as well as you can.

Is there anyone who could share their experience of taking Paclitaxel and Herceptin?

Im having weekly Paclitaxel for 12 weeks and 3 weekly Herceptin for a year.  After chemo I’m due to have some radiotherapy.

My diagnosis is stage 1 invasive, (had lumpectomy) nodes not affected ER and Her2 positive.

I’ve avoided reading stuff on Google so it would be great to hear from anyone who has been through a similar scenario.

Thank you for any info and take care of yourselves.

  • Hello Lorraine,

First of all you are right to stay away from Google as we all know the spiral of anxiety Google can send us into and often for no good reason. We do however have reliable and useful information on our website on paclitaxel and on herceptin (also known as trastuzumab) and you can also read more about radiotherapy for breast cancer. But as nothing quite replaces hearing from personal experiences, I hope that someone who has been on paclitaxel and herceptin will come and share their story with you.

If you type in 'herceptin' or 'paclitaxel' on our forum search which is located at the top, you will be able to see past threads which mention these keywords and feel free to respond to any you feel might be relevant to you.

We also have a free nurse helpline you can ring if you have any question on 0808 800 4040 - it is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and don't hesitate to ask them any question you might have about your treatment and they will be happy to guide you.

It's reassuring news though that it is stage 1 and lymph nodes were not affected and I wanted to wish you the best of luck for your treatment. I hope that it all goes well!

    Best wishes,
