Immunotherapy - is it normal to have scan before starting treatment?

Hello

has anybody had a scan before they started immunotherapy ?

thanks

  • Hey Deedeexx,

I noticed you haven't had a reply to your post just yet so I just wanted to reassure you that your post has been seen.

Also, now that I've replied our members will be able to see your post once more and hopefully anyone who has any insight and experiences to share will stop by soon to let you know whether they had a scan before they started their immunotherapy.

Our nurses may be able to shed some light on this as well so if you'd like to ask them about this and discuss any other concerns you may have about starting your treatment, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Deedeexx and wishing you all the best with your immunotherapy.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Deedeexx,

I can only advise on behalf of melanoma patients who have immunotherapy. Yes, they have a scan before starting treatment & then at intervals throughout their treatment. The first scan is used as a baseline to see if further scans show any change to show if the treatment is working.
