I an sorry to hear that you have had a recurrence. It seems impossible to ensure that we don't encounter further growth even after successful surgery and hormone therapy. Do you have any further treatment planned and do you know what type and stage of breast cancer you had.?

I had Pure Mucinous Breast Cancer, stage 1. This is a rare type of cancer, but is slow growing and not very aggressive. At the time of diagnosis, I was informed that "if I had to have cancer, this was one of the best types to have." There was no lymph node involvement. I had a lumpectomy and took Tamoxifen for a year. Within 6 months, I discovered a lump in my other breast - this was pre-cancerous. Within just a year from my initial surgery, I had another lump in my original breast. I had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole for 6½ years. That was all 16 years ago and I sincerely hope that I don't get any further spread.

I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer which eventually spread to her liver, lungs, bones and brain before my diagnosis, so if I can help with any information, please feel free to ask. Please keep in touch and let us know how you're getting on. We are always here for you.

Hi Jolamine thankyou for getting back to me  diagnosed with hormone receptive breast cancer 13 yrs ago had Right side masectomy and Tamoxifen for 10 years

About 6 weeks ago I had a sore left breast so was fast tracked consultant did mammogram and said all clear but to have a bone scan just to double check things found something on right arm/shoulder then advised to have an MRI scan which showed Metastasis in the marrow also had CT scan still waiting for results and app with breast surgeon seen my own GP who said ill possibly have surgery Chemotherapy and radiotherapy I'm so worried
