Side effects with osimirtinib

I've had T3N0M0 adenocarcinoma, nsclc, surgically resected and have just started osimirtinib. I'm worried about losing my hair and other side effects.  Does anyone know any way of preventing hair loss and how common is it? And does anyone have experience of other side effects? The leaflet has a long list and the nurses just say  "everyone's different ".

  • Hello Ann

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling concerned about possible side effects of a treatment that you've recently started. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

Osimirtinib (also known as Tagrisso) can cause hair loss or thinning for some people who take it. As your nurse says, everyone is different, and hopefully this won't be a problem for you. However, in the meantime, we do have some information about coping with hair loss and thinning on our website, which may be helpful. You mjight also like to look at the Cancer Hair Care charity website.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope this helps a little.

    Best wishes,
