  • Hi Peggie58

I was diagnosed with the same cancer two days ago. Reading about this cancer, it appears to have only been recognised in 2020 and therefore there may have been many more unrecognised cases in the past.  Two of my aunts had ovarian cancer but I've no idea what type.  I'm due to start 6 sessions of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel in the next two weeks.  How are you doing ?  Liz168

  • Hi Liz168

I am sorry about your recent diagnosis it is quite scary having cancer diagnoses more so with rare type finding information can be stressful.I am happy to share my experience of this rare cancer journey.
following colposcopy with biopsy and mri scan I was diagnosed with Mesonephric andecarcenoma stage 2B I was advised that this is a fast growing cancer so treatment was started 2weeks after mri
My treatment was radical hysterectomy December 2025 and in February I started by 5 rounds of chemotherapy and 25 rounds of radiotherapy.

I found the treatment ok but extremely tiring I found the nights after my chemotherapy I could be awake often during the night probably due to medication my oncology team where a good support with regular checkups including weekly bloods and pain management

I did have to stay overnight for blood transfusions as my haemoglobin was low staff where always on hand to answer any questions I had

treatment does have side effects that may appear after treatment is finished however I found the oncology team very active in helping to manage them

I had follow up after a few weeks including ct scan of hip groin and chest all was clear and I have further appointment November

I have attended the Maggie centre near me and find them a great support as well as online forums I did find a forum on Facebook for Mesonephric andecarcenoma it is a world wide group with just over 100 members with this rare cancer. I found it quite helpful getting others experience

I do hope you find my experience useful and I wish you all the best for your own journey
