Waiting breast biopsy results but consultant confident it will be positive. I'm so scared of what comes next and need someone to talk to who understands

Hi all ,

Am absolutely terrified . Thought I found a lump 6 months ago that seemed to come , go then came back and stayed . Went to GP 3 weeks ago who didn't think it was sinister but referred me to breast unit . Had appointment on Monday and consultant after seeing mammogram and scan is confident it is sinister .. Now just waiting for biopsy results .. Lump is somewhere between 1.3 & 1.5 mm according to the images.  Am just so scared of what comes next and desperately need someone to talk to who understands x

  • Hi V

Hope your doing well today and getting ready to head home to rest xxx

  • Yes all good B, feel really good, no pain and friend coming anytime now! Thank you for your care, you are a very special lady!

    V xx

  • Glad your feeling so well and pain free !

Have a safe journey  and enjoy being back home .

Sending you lots of love ️ xx

  • Ah now I understand and yes a very tense time, which is natural as you are not in control. You will soon be clearer and once you know it usually feels a bit more manageable.

I am doing great, just 24hours since op and am up, walking about and pain free, so very happy which sounds weird but true! It's also no way as bad as I thought it would be. Medical science has moved on leaps and bounds since I had BC 21 years ago and surgical team were amazing!

May all your experiences from here on in be as good, if not better!

    Vx

  • Sending love right back at you B! How are you doing/feeling after a few days since your op?

Lots of love and virtual hugs

    V xxx

  • I'm feeling ok thanks V.

No pain,  maybe the odd bit of discomfort but I think that's more the water proof plasters sticking than the op sites .

I've been out every day apart from today because of the snow but have certainly recovered alot better than I anticipated.

Medical science is amazing isn't it ! xx

  • How are you doing B?

Am not so great as I got shingles straight after my operation and two weeks on I am still in pain from my mastectomy. It isn't easy to get on top of the pain so am feeling a little low.

Hope you are doing well and going from strength to strength!

    V xx

  • Hi V great to hear from you !

So sorry to hear you got shingles and am still feeling so poorly and in pain . Have you managed to have a post op check up to make sure your wound is healing ok?

I'm doing ok  thanks apart from the build up to results day and the anxiety that brings.

Has someone stayed with you since your op to help you around the house ? I think you said you had someone staying with you for the first couple of weeks post surgery .

What have they given you for the pain? I was given codeine by the hospital but thankfully I managed with paracetamol and ibuprofen.  Could you GP prescribe a stronger pain killer ?

Have been thinking about you alot these last couple of weeks so it's lovely to hear from you .

Sending you lots of love and healing prayers xx

  • Yes, post op meeting said I was healing nicely with some swelling which they said was normal. Am over the shingles as I caught it early with viral treatment. Apart from an overnight stay in hospital, after my op, I didn't have anyone to look after me at home as I've done that myself including cooking my meals but haven't walked my dog, as friends have done that and taken me to appointments. I have walked every day and slept loads! I take 2x paracetamol 500 mg and 2 x ibuprofen 200mg three times a day. I also do my arm exercises every day too. I was given codeine but it made me very sleepy and a bit woozy. I have asked for something stronger from my doctor especially something better for gut health as ibuprofen isn't good on a long term basis.

I reached out because I was feeling a bit low so thank you so much for your reply - lifted my spirits to hear your response, thank you!

  • I hope you will always stay intough V , even after we are through this difficult time.

It's good that yoir healing and managing to do so much around the house , what an achievement!

I had Bells Palsy a couple of years ago and I was given Tramadol which worked a treat for pain , I don't know if that's an option for you or not ? I know I took the dose prescribed but it spaced me out so I took half the dose and it worked wonders .

Have you got anything nice planned for when your feeling a bit better  ? xx
