Myeloma versus Amyloidosis

My husband has been told he either has Myloma or Amyloidosis. He has had bone marrow biopsy for which only some of the blood test results have come back. He was told at first that he didn'think he had cancer. Now they want him to go in for chemotherapy for a week. We thought that if he needed this it would be in tablet form. How bad is this and what can we expect,?

  • Hello Singleton and a big welcome to our forum,

What a time of uncertainty it must be for you being told your husband has either myeloma or amyloidosis and I hope that you will soon get all the results so that you know for sure what he has been diagnosed with.

There is general information on our website on chemotherapy and if he is diagnosed with myeloma, we also have detailed information on myeloma which I hope you will find useful.

It might be worth getting in touch with our cancer nurses if you would like to talk things through with them - you can get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 4040 and feel free to explain to them the situation and I am sure they will be happy to advise you or point you in the right direction.

I hope you get more clarity soon as to what to expect.

    Best wishes,
