does anyone know if I would be able to get a respite home for time having treatment and if so could I get funded, I cant do this alone

  • Hello Elizabethr

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so anxious ahead of starting treatment soon. It's understandable that you're feeling this way.

Have you spoken with your GP, Consultant or specialist cancer nurse about the concerns that you have? Do they know that you live alone and don't have a support network available to help during treatment? If not, then please do give them a call or make an appointment to talk with one of the health professionals involved in your care so that they can talk through options with you.

If you think it might help to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

I hope that things go smoothly for you Elizabethr. Keep in touch and let us know how you are. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Elizabeth, so sorry for what you are going through.  Having cancer is bad enough, but to have no support network must be terrifying.  Phone your local SOCIAL SERVICES and they might be able to help you.  There are no guarantees, but they MIGHT  be able to find you somewhere for respite whilst you are having your treatment.  Good luck, xx
