Hi. I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer last Friday 21 st. Non aggressive. I’m having an op Friday.

Has anyone advice on what on expect from radio therapy?

  • Hi, I went through a lumpectomy mid September and finished my 5 days radiotherapy just over 2 weeks ago.  Its a bit of a see saw as youre just getting over your surgery and then left with the tiredness of being through radiotherapy.  I was diagnosed with Grade 2 (the Dr called it) Ductal Carcinoma in situ.  I had just one lymph node removed and was told that there were microscopic cancer cells in this, now on Anatrazole to get rid of these.  If I sleep well, I feel great, although if I dont sleep well, feel a bit rough.  Definitely have improved from the exhausting tiredness the first ten days or so.  I.m glad my treatment is finished, I just need to learn to be patient and not expect to bounce back straight away.  My advice to you is to make sure you do your exercises after surgery as this will help you so much during radiotherapy as you have to raise your arms and stay in one position for 15 minutes, for me anyway.  Also I was a bit lazy after radiotherapy and only started my exercises again 2 days ago.  Getting out in the fresh air helps and if you have a poor appetitie eat small healthy meals or snacks and drink plenty of water. Now,  I find 'Im appreciating so many things now, simple things.

Hope this is of some help to you.  I got through it and still getting there.
