Fear of it spreading whilst waiting for mri results

Hi

I was diagnosed with stage 1 her2positive breast cancer last Wednesday. I had an mri on Monday and will get the results next Wednesday. Im terrified the cancer will spread by the time I get my results and it'll be terminal. Can anyone  reassure me at all please as I'm desperate?

  • Hello SazzleD

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling terrified by this news and how quickly things might be changing whilst you're awaiting to start treatment.

We know that for many people, this period of waiting for further testing and results can be really difficult. It's good to hear that you've already had your MRI and the team will be seeing you in a few days to give you the results. Hopefully, at this appointment, they will have all the information they need to discuss a treatment plan with you and offer some reassurance.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch SazzleD and let us know how you get on with your appointment. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
