My Husband has Prostate Cancer

Hello, my husband has been diagnosed with prostate cancer stage 3. He was going to have his prostate removed, but just before surgery (he was in pre op)The surgeon went through all the possibilities of incontinence and said if he couldn't live with the possibility of being incontinent for the rest of his life he shouldn't have the op. He decided not to go ahead and has opted for Radiotherapy instead. We're now waiting for his hormone therapy treatment and has appointment for radiology.

Does anyone have any advice / experience of what to expect from the radiotherapy treatment.?

  • Hello Grace1213

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis of prostate cancer. I hope that the two of you are being well supported by the specialists.

We have a few chaps here in the Cancer Chat community who have been through treatment for prostate cancer, and hopefully some of them will post to share their experiences with you. In the meantime, we have some information about radiotherapy for prostate cancer that you may find helpful as well as information about hormone therapy.

If either of you would like to talk with one of our nurses for advice, information and support, you're welcome to call them. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that the new treatment plan for your husband goes smoothly Grace1213. Keep in touch and let us know how you're both coping.

    Best wishes,
