1st consultation regarding T2a kidney cancer

My husband has his first consultation regarding T2a kidney cancer. What happens next, when would treatment begin

  • Hello Linette and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I hope that your husband won't have to wait too long for his first consultation. Has he got a date already for his appointment? It's a good idea to write things down before the appointment, questions you may want to ask so that you don't forget when you are face to face with the consultant. It's easy not to remember what we meant to say so having it all in paper can help sometimes.

We have detailed information on our website on kidney cancer which I hope you will find useful and you will find out more there on treatment for kidney cancer. Hopefully you will be able to get all the details as to when treatment will begin when your husband has had his first consultation and I hope that he won't have to wait too long.

Feel free to get in touch with our cancer nurses if you have any questions about kidney cancer or treatment. You can ring them on this free number 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to listen to your concerns and to talk you through what to expect from your first consultation.

There's nothing quite like hearing from first-hand experiences of other members of our community who have been through it all before and I wanted to mention for example  's kidney cancer thread which you are welcome to respond to if you wish. I hope that you will connect with others on here who have been diagnosed with kidney cancer before and that they will be able to tell you more about what to expect from your first consultation and what their experience was like, the treatment they themselves had as well as the timeframe in which it all happened.

Best of luck for this important first appointment. I hope that it all goes well and that treatment can start very soon.

    Best wishes,
