Hi Rosilee,
A warm welcome to our forum and thank you for sharing your story with us. Try if you can not to worry too much as having abnormal cells doesn't mean you have cancer but it is important to treat those cells to ensure that they do not develop into cervical cancer in the future. This is very well explained in our page on abnormal cervical cells where you can also read more about treatment if you have abnormal cervical cells and I hope that it will reassure. I would also recommend you have a look at our section on HPV and cancer.
I am not sure exactly what type of surgery you will be having but if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and I hope that I will be joined by other members of our community who have been in a similar situation before, who have HPV and who have had surgery after abnormal cervical cells were detected. It helps to talk to others who have been through all this before and who can share their experiences to offer you reassurance.
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
