I am so sorry you have received a breast cancer diagnosis in both breasts and I can imagine it is a bit of an anxious time for you having to go through a double mastectomy. Our website has useful information on breast reconstruction where you can find out more about the different types of breast reconstruction. It's worth discussing your options with your surgeon if you haven't done so already and if you have any questions or wanted to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. I hope that you will get the insights of others on here who have had reconstruction before and that they will share with you how it went for them and how the recovery was. 

We've had many other members of our community come on our forum to ask about breast reconstruction - for example SuePC posted this thread about breast reconstruction after mastectomy; they were not considering having implants but don't hesitate to drop them a line if you would like to do so. More recently, Jane54 posted about their breast reconstruction experience two years after the mastectomy. These are just a few examples and there are many more. If you type the keywords 'breast reconstruction' in our forum search at the top you will see other relevant posts from members who were also wondering about breast reconstruction options so don't hesitate to respond to any you feel you would like to connect with. 

It's difficult to know what to go for and it's important to make an informed decision by being aware of the pros and cons of each option. I hope that you will hear from the experiences of others here and that you find out soon what would work best for you.
