Malignant melanoma

Diagnosed with stage 1b had the mole removed 5/9/25 got results 29/9/25 now to wait while 22/11/25 for wider extraction my mental health is through the roof my anxiety is so bad. I’ve had no support from the hospital or my gp the only thing is my results through the NHS app. No follow up. To some it’s not serious but to me it’s that word cancer. I’m absolute petrified any advice would be appreciated

  • Sadly there is a lack of emotional support from the NHS for melanoma patients, although you should have been given contact details for the Specialist Nurse. If you haven't, look on the hospital website which may give details of the Melanoma Team, otherwise contact the Dermatology Department & ask for the nurses number & email address.

If you are wanting to discuss your melanoma diagnosis, take a look at the Melanoma Focus website - they have a dedicated Nurses helpline that you can ring https://melanomafocus.org/

If you are wanting help to deal with your anxiety, you should get help from your GP. You can also contact your local Macmillan or Maggie's Centre for support and there is a great charity called https://melanoma-me.org.uk/ which provides emotional & mental support to melanoma patients.

Meanwhile, I will send you a friend request if you wish to chat privately by private message. There is support out there, you aren't alone.
