Hello Janetg
I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with melanoma earlier this week. It's understandable that you have questions about what this may mean for you.
We have some information about melanoma on our website, which might be useful for you to read through. You're also welcome to call our team of nurses to chat things through with them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.
I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your surgery Janet. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Best wishes,
Jenn

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear you are awaiting a Wide Local Excision on the melanoma that's been removed. Have they told you the depth or Stage of the melanoma as this will have some bearing on the size of the surgical wound. Also, have they said if a skin graft will be necessary? The Stage/depth will also depend if you are offered a Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy. If Stage 2b or c you will also be offered drug treatment after the surgery so the Stage is important to know.
Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
Hi
I’m due to go in to hospital end of this month. They have told me very little only that I have malignant melanoma
They said after surgery they would be able to tell me more and probably further treatment
Thankyou for your email
Thankyou surgery is end of October
Is this the second surgery (the wide local excision) or the initial surgery to remove the mole?
It’s my first surgery
Ahh, so you haven't had a biopsy yet. I'm assuming the dermatologist told you that the mole/lesion on your forehead is likely to be melanoma?
