Kidney cancer

Now 5 months on from my major kidney removal I am still bloated with big abdomen and flanks. It’s very uncomfortable and on top of that my left flank (opposite side to 12 inch scar) is giving me pain,  I paid privately and saw a kidney specialist consultant who said all was ok,  it was grade 4 but I had clear margins.  A month after surgery I had thorax and abdomen ct scan with contrast which showed no recurrence,  I am now on Immuntherapy.  The feeling of being hugely bloated and pain is very worrying,  Has anyone else had similar problems to me. Thanks N

  • Welcome to our forum, Sargey.

I'm sorry to hear you're still feeling so uncomfortable. It sounds like you've been through a lot, and I can understand how worrying the bloating and pain must be, especially after major surgery.

It's good to hear the scans showed no recurrence and that your margins were clear, but I know that doesn't always take away the worry when your body still doesn’t feel right. Starting immunotherapy is a big step, and sometimes it can come with side effects that are hard to explain or predict.

Even though your consultant said things are OK, I think it's important to keep speaking with your medical team, especially if the pain or bloating gets worse. Others here might have had similar experiences, so I hope someone can share what helped them.

Please do let us know how things go. We're thinking of you and hoping you'll start to feel better soon.
