Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung

I have just had a 3rd of my lung removed and diagnosed with the above. I've been told I will not be having chemotherapy. I'm confused because I was initially told I would need adjuvant chemotherapy.

Can anyone help me to understand this?

  • Hello GillC1

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been through lung surgery and have been told that you have neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung. I hope that you've been recovering well from the surgery.

It's not uncommon for treatment plans to change after an initial discussion between the specialists and the patient, so try not to worry too much about this. We have some information about treatment for lung neuroendocrine cancer, but I'd really encourage you to give your specialist cancer nurse a call as they will be best placed to explain the reasons your treatment plan has changed and offer some reassurance.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you can get the reassurance you need and that you continue to recover.

    Best wishes,
