Shocked - I recently found out I have CLL

I have recently been diagnosed with CLL due to an imbalance of white cells up until now I believed I was healthy and fit until a  recent blood test revealed otherwise. The blood test was for a totally different issue to do with my bladder so when I was informed I had a form of blood cancer I found it difficult to accept. I am being monitored at the moment providing blood tests at regular intervals but I have been told at this stage I don’t need any treatment , I just hope it stays that way although on the odd occasion I do feel very tired even though I have not done very much.

  • Hello Leatgain

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns and that during another test it was discovered that you have CLL. It's understdnable that this came as a shock to you and that you're struggling to come to terms with this news.

We have some information about chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) including a section about watch and wait (also known as active monitoring) which might hopefully offer some reassurance.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, informarion and support they can.

Hopefully things weill remain stable for you for a long time to come but don't be afraid to raise any concerns that you have with your specialist doctors and nurses.

    Sending my best wishes,
