Brain surgery - What can I expect? I don't know anyone who has had this done.

I was told totally out of the blue I have a brain tumour which has to be taken out within the month. A bit like a deer in headlights at the moment. No idea what to expect with the surgery, hospital stay and coming home at the very beginning. It’s a terrifying prospect as I don’t know anyone who had had brain surgery.

  • Welcome to the forum Npg, although I'm sorry to hear about the brain tumour that has been found, and that it needs to be removed in the next month.

It's completely understandable, and natural, to be feeling this way after receiving such unexpected and life changing news but you are not alone Npg as our members are here to support you and hopefully those who have had a brain tumour removed will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

You can find out more about brain tumour surgery on our website, but if it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. With their knowledge and insight they will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about what's to come.

You may also be able to get further information and advice from The Brain Tumour Charity.

We hope your surgery goes well Npg, and we're sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
