Both parents diagnosed

I feel numb that both parents were diagnosed with lung cancer within a week of each other.

mum had been going for various tests for a number of weeks but whilst we were waiting in the results of a biopsy dads shock diagnosis came, he had been well up until two weeks ago when he had a cough. They have said his is secondary but are unsure where the primary source is yet, they have aid mums is treatable and curable. My emotions are changing daily , in trying to stay as positive as I can. Dad was very down but had been told to carry on with why he was doing but he’s lost confidence and some of his mobility. Mum is trying to be positive whilst waiting for surgery. I hate the uncertainty and am scared of what is coming.

  • Hi Annjoe19,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. This must be so difficult to process - I can imagine you must be feeling lots of different things and it must be a lot to try to deal with.

It sounds like you are still waiting for more information. I hope it's not long to wait to get this, and any information about next steps also. This may help provide some understanding as I know the uncertainty is always tough.

Keep on taking things a day at a time and looking after yourself too. It is often helpful to speak to others, so hopefully you have other friends and family around you. We are also always here for support whenever you need it, even if it's just to write things down.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
