Anxiety waiting for biopsy results: I’ve been diagnosed with localised advanced breast cancer

I’ve been diagnosed with localised advanced breast cancer and am waiting for the biopsy results. I’m really struggling with severe anxiety. Has anyone got some suggestions that might help me through the next few days

  • Very sorry to hear about your situation.

Here are some suggestions as to how you can get through next few days:

    Cancer Chat nurse helpline

Distraction- favourite tv programmes / coffee with friends etc

    Exercise

Talking to trusted family and friends

    CBT techniques

    Mindfulness

    Lorazepam

I wish you all the best.  Good luck!

  • Hi Ingrid,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so anxious while you are waiting for your biopsy results.  Most of us would agree that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey. There are so many unknowns and what ifs. Our overactive imaginations also tend to take us to all sorts of dark places. Irrespective of the outcome, you will feel better once you know what you are dealing with.

Hopecalm has given you some useful suggestions. A jigsaw can also help to take your mind off cancer for a while, as can going to the cinema or theatre. Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
