bcc now got scc

Hi I am new to this, I had my 1st bcc removed 20 years ago and am having my 3rd done for this year next month.  After 6 years of checking by dermatologists and disregarding it my minor skin condition is now an scc on the bridge of my nose, requiring chemo cream for 6 weeks then Mohs removal and a skin graft.  After a week's worth of cream treatment the area is now feeling sore and bruised.  Has anyone else gone through this as well and give me advice, I have had Mohs before by my left eye 20 years back.  Thanks for reading Dave

  • Hello Dave, and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear about the SCC you're contending with on the bridge of your nose, and for how tender that area has become after one week of using the chemotherapy cream.

Hopefully this will become less painful soon but if you're worried or the cream is causing too much discomfort, make sure you let your medical team know as they may be able to give you another cream containing steroids to help with this.

I hope some of our members who have had the same treatment for their SCCs will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice, but feel free to give our team of cancer nurses a call for further information and advice on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to assist you and address any other questions or concerns you may at this time.

We're sending you all our support Dave and wishing you all the best with your treatment.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
