Hi Tricia,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Do you know what type of surgery you'll be having? I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and 1 pre-cancer, all within a year of each other. I had a lumpectomy first and a double mastectomy for the others. I was terrified of having surgery and was surprised by how much easier it was than I had imagined. Basically, you will have an injection (general anaesthetic). This will knock you out and you will wake up after the surgery is all complete. The nurses will explain the post-operative care procedures, depending upon which procedure you have. Most people can go home on the same day after a lumpectomy, but some people may need to be kept in if their operation is more complex.
I hope that you get your surgery soon and am sure that you will find it all very straightforward,
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
