Skin Cancer (possibly)

Hi everyone, I had a 3-4mm mark removed from my cheek in March that the dermatologist suspected was a pigmented BCC. It was totally removed with a punch biopsy and has fully healed. I haven't had the results yet but I've just received an appointment for follow up surgery next week. I've checked with the office and they say definitely further surgery is required but the admin people aren't allowed to give me the details over the phone and they have said a letter has been dictated and sent for typing that I will hopefully get before the appointment happens. Any ideas what the surgery could possibly be? I guess they found something they didn't like but I have no idea what to expect. I'm quite anxious going in for a surgery when I don't know whats actually going to happen or whats wrong.

Sometimes a punch biopsy will remove the entire lesion. If on examination of the biopsy there are bcc cells on the outer edges then you will have a few more millimetres cut away to make sure it is completely removed. You will have no further problem with it. However you are likely to have more sun damaged areas on your skin. So wear a hat use factor 50 sun cream. Avoid midday sun. This is really important if you dont want further recurrences.
