Percutaneous lung biopsy - anyone had this?

My mum is having this done on Tuesday and she is terrified.  Could anyone who has had this done tell me what it was like?  In particular, how painful it was?

Also, somehow she's got the idea that the needle will go through her armpit, which is what she's most scared about, even though no one said that to her in my hearing (she has dementia).  Is this possible?

Please help.

  • Hello LouW82, and welcome to the forum, although I’m sorry to hear about the reason that brings you here.

I can understand how terrifying it must be for your mum, especially with the added worry about what the procedure will be like. It’s reassuring to know that she has you by her side to support her through this.

While I can’t speak from personal experience, many people here may have had a percutaneous lung biopsy and might be able to share their experiences.

I hope this helps a little, and that you both receive the support and reassurance you need in the coming days.

Wishing your mum all the best for her procedure on Tuesday, and strength to both of you.

    Best wishes,
