Para aortic node removal

Hi. I my left kidney removed last year due to a cancerous growth. All good & followed up with chemo. However, I now have a cancer within my left sided para-aortic node, which is unfortunately aggressive and grows faster than chemo can shrink it. I am seeing the original surgeon next week, who, up to this point, has refused to perform surgery to remove this node due to it's position and the risk to me. Is there anyone out there with a similar experience, anyone out there who has had such surgery ? Did you need to go for second opinion to get that surgery ? So many questions right now ! Thank you

  • Hi Rumblebob,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I wanted to send a reply to your post to give it a little boost, so a few more people should see it and hopefully you'll get more replies.

It's good that you have an appointment coming up soon, this will of course be another opportunity to ask any questions you have and talk things through.

A second opinion is something that could be considered if you feel you would like to.

I hope that you're able to find out more in the appointment and I also hope that this forum can be of some support to you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
