Husband diagnosed with bladder cancer

Hi my husband was diagnosed in December of high grade bladder cancer of the diverticulum. We had a meeting yesterday with a specialist who has advised that they will be doing a full bladder removal d prostate removal as they suspect there is cancer there as well. They told us yesterday 21 February that his operation will be the end of April. That is 8 -9 weeks away. I've read that his type of ncer is fast growing and can spread within three months. I'm very very anxious and unable to sleep as I keep thinking the worst.

  • Hi Debbie  ,

I remember that anxiety   I'm sorry you have this worry with your husband.

Just to say we've been there and it's about the same time scale. From hubby's diagnosis with muscle invasive bladder cancer in March 2023 to his cystoprostatectomy in June 23....... at the age of 74 . (I can't really spell that but it's in my tablet's dictionary)

It is a big op. but it's do-able . There were a few appointments beforehand to keep us busy so the time seemed to go quickly really . Once you get on the cancer roller coaster  it's quite a ride . It's a good idea for the patient to get as fit as possible beforehand ,  so that can help the time fly too . You can't do anything to control the cancer but you can try to be positive,  and be confident the surgeons will deal with it .

Remember ... "your strength will lie in keeping calm and showing trust ".(Isaiah 30:15b).

    Zillah
