Feeling nauseous since being diagnosed with breast cancer. Is this normal?

I have just recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, waiting on a lumpectomy, every morning I wake up I feel nauseous, pretty much most off the day and don’t feel like eating, can any one else relate to this, thank you

  • HI Maddygil,

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so nauseous so frequently. Have you started any treatment yet, which might be causing this? I certainly felt like this once I started taking Tamoxifen and Letrozole, but my care team prescribed some anti-nausea medication, which helped a little. Do please mention this to your care team and see what they suggest.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine, still waiting on appointment at hospital, I am not on any medication yet, think it might be nerves in my stomach, hope your keeping well

    take care, xx

  • Hi Maddygil,

The anxiety can certainly cause this too. Here's hoping that your appointment comes through soon.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello Maddygil,

When I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer 4 years ago, I don’t feel nauseous but sleepless night is normal. That’s because a lot of mixture of feelings  and thoughts haunted us day and night.   That’s the reason until now I never told even my closest friends what I’ve been through back in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic that I got this nasty breast cancer. I just want to undergo treatment peacefully and avoid “how are you ‘s and are you alright’s” phone calls or text messages. Because when you tell people they don’t understand how we feel as cancer patients. They are not on the same boat so it’s hard for them to understand how we feel.

i hope you feel better soon and hopefully you get a hospital appointment quickly.

    Best wishes,

    Inday-Tintin

  • Thank you Inday-Tintin, that’s exactly how feel, I have only told my immediate family, I didn’t want the phone calls or text messages and people who don’t really know me feeling sorry for me , just want to get on with it, my imagination runs wild some days. I have an appointment tomorrow to see the consultant so I’ll find out then what my next steps are, I still feel nauseous a lot but I think it is a lot to do with nerves in my stomach I’ll let you know what he says.  How are things with you? Hope you are doing well.

    hugs to you
