Esophagus cancer

My mums just been told she has

The consultant Said that they have concerns she isn't fit enough to get chemo so that's not an option now as side effects will make her worse.

Cancer has spread to liver and lymph nodes also

When mum asked what stage they said Final stage and it's gone beyond and operation

Hopefully get the stent so she can get some energy.

Cancer is extensive

They were hoping to give her palliative chemo but she's not strong enough
He said 6 -12 months

  • Thank you for your reply. I am of course, sorry to hear about your mother, I wish you and her well. To hear 6 to 12 months gives me some hope that I can see a short future ahead. I was only told today and when I asked for a time frame, the surgeon couldn't or wouldn't answer me, he said it's down to the chemo. I am strong enough as far as I am aware for the chemo, I am 60 years old and physically fit, don't drink nor smoke. How does your mother find eating as I have the same cancer and most foods make me either nauseous or vomit? Any tips on food would be most welcome. I cannot stomach anything with any type of oil or spice or anything with creamy base, hot food, pasta, loads. I can manage strangely enough dry sweet biscuits and chocolate, but it's not a suitable diet and gives me stomach ache. I'm also ok with burnt sausages out the air fryer once cooled and cuppa soup but little more.

  • Thank you so much for your reply

She has been having symptoms from September last year

She has been unable to eat for the past 3 months only vitamin drinks the occasional yoghurt and some calorie type drinks

For a while even a picture of food would make her feel sick

What about some mash potato or  scrambled eggs ?
