New breast cancer diagnosis…waiting to hear what type

I am 48 and just been diagnosed with breast cancer although I am waiting for biopsy results to hear what type. Both the consultant and radiologist who did the biopsy said they were ‘really worried’ and ‘concerned’. I get results in 2 weeks and am a mum to an 12 year old boy. I am absolutely terrified. Can’t sleep or eat. Any advice would be very appreciated

  • Welcome to the forum IPhoenix, although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I know this must be a very scary and difficult time but our members are here for you IPhoenix and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer you their support and advice.

You can find out more about breast cancer on our website but if you'd like to talk any of this through with someone, you can give our team of cancer nurses a call next week. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m, and they will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

I hope these tips we have on how to cope with waiting for news will be useful too but in the meantime, we're thinking of you IPhoenix and sending all our support your way.

  • Hi, I too am in the same position. One moment I am laughing the next moment I am in tears. I try to keep myself busy. I am investing a lot of time looking into what foods I should be eating and avoiding. I hope you overcome your battle with cancer with ease and get well soon.

  • I’m so sorry to hear this I don’t have any advice I am in a similar situation I have been diagnosed with cervical cancer stage 3 and have a 11 year old boy and 9 year old girl. I just wanted you to know you are not alone and I understand what you are going through. I hope you get good results

  • Hi Ipheonix,

    how are you doing now?

I’ve been recently diagnosed with grade 3 triple positive breast cancer and mentally am struggling but so far physically fine.

its the waiting and helplessness that I’m finding the hardest, how about you?

I’ve been going through my house bit by bit and selling things I knowlongee need I’m finding this helpful as it’s taking my mind off the little **** that has invaded my body.

  • I found that so far the waiting for results is the worst part of the process.  Once I knew my diagnosis and I had a treatment plan in place it felt better.  I have started off with chemotherapy and so far it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be.  I hope this helps.

  • I’ve been waiting for 2 months to start treatment every time they give me a date something happens to delay it.
I’ve been doing similar things. I’m trying to prep from chemo so when it happens everything is in place. The house is clean, healthy meals are prepped I have childcare in place.

im sorry for your diagnosis I hope you get a treatment plan in place soon
