After removal

Hi

my mum has 3 weeks ago had a tumour removed from her bladder

today she got the hystology reports and has been told that the tumour was a stage 3 transitional cell carcinoma that had gone through the 1st and 2nd wall of the bladder…they said they want her back in hospital for another op to l presume take more biopsies to see if the cancer has gone into the 3rd bladder wall or has spread further

I know that there’s not really much information anyone can give me without the other results of future biopsies, but with what info Iv given so far can anyone tell me what the future holds for my mum please

iv had cancer twice myself and I’m worried to death

iv googled this and it came up that stage 3 of this type of cancer means it’s gone through the bladder and possibly spread to the lymph nodes

I’m struggling to deal with this if lm honnest

  • Hello Drillion

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's understandable that this is a difficult time for you both at the moment and natural that you will have questions and concerns about what's next.

We do have some information on our website about bladder cancer that you may find helpful. Try to avoid searching Google for answers if you can as we find that most often people are left more anxious and still without firm answers.

As you say, until further tests are carried out it is difficult for the specialists to be able to give you firm answers and talk about the treatment options for your Mum. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really hard. If it would help to talk with one of our nurses I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you're both getting on Drillion. We're here for you.

Sending you both my best wishes,
