Recent diagnosis of E.T. - worried about chemo being excreted through urine. Can anyone help/advise?

My 76 yr old husband has recently been diagnosed with E.T. and although he has no symptoms will be starting a low dose daily chemo tablet. I have read that this can be excreted in his urine and am worried about any splashes on the toilet when we go to stay with our family. We have 3 grandsons, one who is 18 months, and a pregnant daughter -in-law. I'd appreciate any advice.

  • Hello LittleEil

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's recent diagnosis of ET. I hope that things go smoothly for him once he starts treatment.

I'm afraid that I'm unsure about the answer to your question so I'd suggest giving his specialist cancer nurse a quick call. I'm sure that they will be able to give you some answers and reassurance. Alternatively, you could call our nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm for some advice and support.

    Best wishes,

  • Not got experience about that particular method of chemo. But my wife was on heavy-duty chemo during her treatment. Because he's a guy, make sure the seat is wiped after each visit (us guys should do that anyway regardless of what's in our system, yet some of us don't), but if he sits down, then that ain't an issue. We were told to apply the 3/3 rule. For the first 3 days after chemo flush 3 times with the lid down. After 3 days it becomes a non issue. But again, i'm not familiar with your husband's chemo.

  • Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. However my husband will be taking a daily low dose chemo tablet.
