Colorectal Cancer

Hi all I was told yesterday after a colonoscopy I have a tumour in my rectum a same day CT scan has shown what the consultant has said he thinks might just be a cyst but worrying times. Awaiting an MRI now of pelvis and liver. Yesterday I was really strong and attempted to return to work today for a sense of normality but just ended up in floods of tears and sent home. I hope it’s ok to reach out and ask what your coping mechanisms are as I’m sure the dog is soon going to get fed up of walks

  • Welcome to our forum, Kath73.

I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. It must be overwhelming to receive such news and then face the uncertainty of waiting for further tests, so it’s completely understandable that emotions are running high right now. Sometimes, trying to get back to normal can be harder than we expect.

This is a very supportive community, and many people here have been through similar experiences. I hope some of our members will be along soon to share the coping mechanisms they’ve found helpful, whether that’s leaning on family, finding small moments of distraction, or simply taking things one day at a time.

Sending you strength as you face the coming days. Please take care of yourself, and remember we’re here to listen whenever you need a chat.

    All the best,
