Womb Cancer

I am post menopausal in my 60's and had one small bleed, the DRS put me on the 2 week pathway I had an internal scan showing my womb thickness was 11 cm and possibly I had a polyp I was sent for a Hysteroscopy on the 24th December results on Friday were that I have Womb Cancer and its a genetic cancer. I cant really remember much of the conversation its a bit of a blur

I have a CT scan booked later today and then results /call on Wednesday to see how far its spread that much I do remember her saying , I keep asking could I have spotted this earlier did I miss anything ? I have never felt so scared and since the biopsy I have like an nagging ache is this the cancer is it growing it said after the biopsy a few days for aching this is now 15 ..thi has been the longest weekend of my life is anybody else at a similar stage?

Thanks

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Lindor although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with womb cancer.

Finding out you have cancer is a lot to take in so it's completely understandable, and natural, to forget what was mentioned to you when you found out, but I hope your CT scan went well the other day and you received some good news when finding out the results today.

I really hope the cancer hasn't spread and that your medical team have been able to address most of your questions and concerns, but if you'd like to discuss any of this further then you're very welcome to give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to support you on this journey.

I'm sure some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon as well but in the meantime, we're thinking of you and sending all our strength your way.

Be kind to yourself Lindor and take all the time you need to process your diagnosis.

    Kind regards,

  • I've been there and not much further than you now, I have seen my consultant/surgeon today and she explained my next step of a hysterectomy and I'm now waiting on a call for a pre op assessment and surgery date. I was numb when I was told on 30th dec and still feeling numb and scared. I'm 44 not even premenopausal or at least I haven't been told abd they are taking everything away as it has spread through my myometrium (uterine muscle wall). Hopefully they won't keep you waiting too long, it's the waiting that is bugging me the most. Xx

  • I had a call from my Cancer Nurse late yesterday she said the cancer has not spread outside my Womb and my case will be reviewed at the hospital hopefully next Wednesday and then they will be in touch about treatement . My sister had ovarian cancer and passed away so I am hoping they take everything away. I dont know what stage /type yet ? Do they know this from the Ct scan ? My mind went blank when she called .
