Need help with deciding if I should have chemo for breast cancer

I have been diagnosed with breast cancer, I have had my lumpectomy for the 11mm to be removed. My cells are grade 3, HER2 negative and ER 4/8. So have been advisers to have EC-T chemo, radiation and hormone blockers. I am very hesitant to have the chemo because of the impact it can have on your body and would rather be able to test if there are cancer in my body but there isn’t an option for this on the NHS. There’s are number of tests privately available but each company I constant says a different one and so I am lost as to what is the most practical option to take. Does any have any advice for additional tests, who to contact for a second opinion? Thank you

  • Hello Cneyes

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope that you're recovering well from your surgery.

It's understandable that you may have some concerns and questions about the next treatment steps that have been recommended. If you feel that it would be helpful to get a second opinion regarding this then you can read more information about this on our website.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Whatever choice you make regarding treatment I wish you well with your continued recovery.

    Best wishes,
