Skin cancer - bcc or scc awaiting biopsy

Worried sick, size of tumour on my face is currently 10mm diameter and has a large whitish area all around it and this itches so much all the time - is this normal ? Also given its current size I presume they can't take it all out with the biopsy as they are only planning a 4mm punch biopsy (whatever that is!) I'm trying not to go down the google hole ..

  • I had surgery on monday to remove bcc. I am so relieved i went privately for mohs surgery. The tumour was 18m x 13mm on my face, which resulted in 20 stitches going right up to my inner eye. Very swollen and bruised..but although this may be slow growing in my csse it was big by the time it came to light.. Has anyone had mohs hos long and any healing tips..

  • Hi cockerpoo, I realise you posted this some time ago but if you're still reading this forum I wonder how you are doing? Has your wound healed up well? I have bcc on my face as well, just diagnosed this week.

  • Hi..yes it is healing nicely thanks..but i think it still looks quite red. The consultant was hsppy with the healing so thats all that matters..nust takes time i guess.

What does your bcc look like, have u been given a date for surgery

  • Hi cockerpoo, that’s great that it’s healing well and I hope the redness does settle soon. I’ve seen people on this forum - or maybe it was the Macmillan site -  who mentioned using certain types of oil or cream to massage the scar, did your surgeon recommend anything like that?

Mine is a small rough red place below my left eyebrow that sometimes scabs over.

They’ve not given me a date, no - so far I just saw a dermatologist at the hospital who said immediately it was bcc but also sent me for photos, and now next week I’ve got an appointment with plastic surgery.
