Hello. I had cervical cancer 12 years ago and had chemo and radiation, no hysterectomy. I had brachytherapy. I had a stent put in my cervix (in the hospital) so they could put they could put the rod in there and deliver the radiation (at the cancer clinic). The whole process took about 1-1 1/2 and I went 6 time over 6 weeks. I did have to lay still during the treatment. I know there are different methods, so maybe mine was different. It isn't the easiest thing, but you can do it. Let me know if you have any questions.

if it’s only a couple hrs that’s fine but I’ve read that after they put rods in , I’m told it can take several hrs to come up with a plan before administering the treatment . Thanks for your encouragement

Have you discussed your worries about your back with your care team? It is always worth making them aware of this, so that they can be prepared for this, if any problems should arise.

Hi , I’ve just come back from having my 6 th chemo of practixal and carboplatin .  And then I start rads with cystalipan for 5 weeks . I’ve been wearing the cold cap to preserve my hair ( I’m not vain but have young grandchildren who wouldn’t understand why nanny got no hair ) I have been lucky touch wood and lost very little thankfully . I was speaking to my nurse who was doing my meds today and said would I still need to wear cold cap whilst having cystalipan ? . To be told no because it wouldn’t with the next drug saving my hair . I am now very confused to think why then have I had the cold cap for 6 weeks if it doesn’t work on next chemo ? . Has anybody else had this treatment ? Sorry just bit confused and grumpy !
