New here

Hello Everyone.I am new here, I was recently diagnosed with Lung cancer & also possibly Ovarian Cancer. It has come as a real shock to me and my family, I find it difficult talking to my family about how I feel as I don’t want to worry them.

I start chemotherapy on Monday 6th January, which is very quickly considering I was only informed about the biopsy results on 31/12/24 and very  recently saw consultant oncologist.

i am a wheelchair user due to a tumour that was removed from my spine over 15 years ago which left me with no mobility (Been in Remission since)  but I am still quite an active and independent person. I have the attitude if I can do it myself I will, if I need assistance I will ask.

I am quite an active person in the community & always willing to help out where possible.

Since this new diagnosis I feel so down hearted as I’m remembering what I went through 15 years ago, losing my hair, the chemotherapy side effects the operation and radiotherapy. My head is all over the place.

Thanks for listening

  • Hello Sisterchic11.  So sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 5 (nearly 6) years ago, and I also went through the chemo and the loss of my hair.   I can definitely understand why you feel so downhearted...........a cancer diagnosis is a bit like being hit with a sledge hammer isn't it?  I also understand why you are trying to be brave for the sake of your family.  I think it is our natural instinct to want to protect our loved ones from worry.  The only thing I can do is to tell you that I know how you are feeling, and that this community here on Cancer Chat are here for you whenever you need to talk, or even to simply vent your frustration!  Good luck on your journey, my thoughts and prayers are with you, x

  • Thanks Blue-Girl so much for such a prompt and thoughtful message. Yes definitely feels like been hit by a sledgehammer, Yes I think that’s what it is just want to protect our family from it.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers it means a lot. Sending you best New Year Wishes to you. ️
