Pathology is back and it’s cancer.

Ii had local wide excision done of the vulvar. I’ve just had my pathology report back which HPV-associated squamous cell carcinoma. Provisional FIGO stage IB. Cancer  and I’m shocked as I was told from biopsy three months prior it was only VIN3.

I’m so lost for words right now. I’m waiting for my gynaecologist to reach out to explain the results and next steps. Does anyone know what to expect? Is there any specific I should be asking?

  • Hello Nattahlee,

I can understand how you're feeling, but I do hope you'll get to speak to your gynaecologist soon. They'll hopefully be able to discuss the next steps with you and address any concerns or questions you might have. We also have a cancer nurse helpline if you wish to speak to someone from the team. You can call for free on 0808 800 4040 and lines open from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

    I hope this helps,
