Waiting biopsy results and treatment plan

Diagnosed with a superficial bladder tumour and lesion , this was followed by a CT scan, pre-op tests and a TURBT under general anaesthetic a couple of weeks ago.

I am currently waiting for the biopsy report and future treatment plan.

I was not given chemo in the bladder at the time of the TURBT, and BCG has been mentioned on a couple of occasions.

My questions are:

What can I do / take ( if anything) to try and ensure that I can tolerate the BCG treatment and that it is as successful as possible.

I must admit I was ‘enjoying’ (?) the lull between the TURBT and getting the results however after researching BCG treatment my ‘emotional rollercoaster’ has returned in high gear ….

Any advice would be gratefully received!!

thanks in advance

Pete

  • I'm sorry you're having to go through the rather nerve-racking wait for your biopsy results and treatment plan Pete. This must be a very stressful and anxious time.

I hope some of our members who have had BCG into the bladder will share their experiences and advice with you soon, but if you'd like to discuss any of your worries or concerns with one of our cancer nurses, don't hesitate to give them a call. I think I gave you their number in a previous post, but I'll include it here as well. It's 0808 800 4040 and their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m -5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about this treatment.

As always, we are here for you Pete and sending you all our strength and support whilst you wait.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
