Hello Ria1,
I hope you won't mind but I have edited the title of your thread slightly to include the words 'breast cancer' - this will make it easier for other members of our community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer to see your post and respond with their story and experience. I hope that you will be chatting here soon with others who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Poor you having to go through this long anxious wait for tests and results so close to Christmas! I am not sure how long it will take you to be seen for the MRI - perhaps you could contact your local hospital and find out? We have a page on our website on the MRI scan to help you prepare for your appointment and so you know what to expect and it mentions that you should get your results within 1 or 2 weeks. Waiting for this appointment and then again for the results can be nerve-racking and it's a feeling so many members of our community will know only too well. We have some helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news. You might want to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses in the coming days or weeks and there is a free helpline you can ring on 0808 800 4040 - it is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
I hope that you can be seen soon for this MRI and I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you. Keep us updated if you don't mind on what you find out if you get a moment.
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
Hi Ria1,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am sorry to hear that you are waiting for a MRI. Times for these vary from one hospital to another, but they usually try to fit you in as soon as they can. i see that our moderator, Lucie has suggested that you contact the hospital to find out.
Have you been allocated a breast care nurse yet. They are often a good source of this type of information. The other person to contact is you consultant's secretary. I hope that you hear something soon. As Lucie says, this is always a nerve-racking wait.
I sincerely hope that all goes well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Lucie,
I had the results from MRI yesterday. They have found two more masses. One in the left breast and one in the right. I’m going for ultrasound and more biopsies on Christmas Eve. I was diagnosed with LCIS in the left breast two years ago but the cancer has been found in the right. Has anyone had a similar experiences?
my right breast is still so bruised and sore from the original biopsies and i have so many cysts in both breasts to add to the discomfort!
