  • Hello Katherine

I'm sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with bladder cancer and that you're due to have surgery next week. It's understandable that you're feeling frightened ahead of your surgery.

I know that many members who have been through treatment for cancer will understand how difficult this period of waiting can be. it's natural to have concerns about how you will cope and what the outcome will be. Talk with your care team about your concerns so that they know how to support you best in the days and weeks after your surgery.

We have some information on our website about removing the bladder that you may find helpful but I'd also suggest giving our team of nurses a call to talk with them about how you're feeling. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you will be able to connect with others who have experience with this surgery. You might be able to do this by visiting the Action Bladder Cancer UK website.

I hope that everything goes smoothly for you next week and that the team are able to give you some reassurance after the surgery.

Let us know how you get on when you feel up to it.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
