Not sure how to feel - waiting for breast biopsy results after small lump found during ultrasound

Hi all. I have recently had a biopsy of my breast and just waiting on the results. I was referred to the breast clinic after my routine mammogram was unclear. They took further mammograms and gave me an ultrasound and found a very small lump that I would never have found myself. They said that it was small, early and treatable as they are erring on the side that it is most likely the C word. My emotions are all over the place and it comes in waves. not really sure what to expect with what comes next.

  • Thats the best news of bad news isnt it?!!! Im so glad its low grade and caught early. I had the exact same news and action plan!! Its all so positive!! Yes I had the lymph node test too, I think they do it as a precaution then another relief when you get the definite news that's ok!

The doctors was a waste of time, apparently they cant do it from there end so I have to talk to the consultant! Still haven't received the letters for the scan and radiotherapy dates yet so need to somehow chase that up!

It really is a strange feeling, everyone is relieved and happy which you are but then at the same time you still feel shocked your in the situation at all!!

    Hope your ok xxxx

  • Yeah that's exactly how I feel too, strange isn't it. They did say that if you get cancer the one that this is the best type to have. Doctors eh if you get an appointment then they can be useless hopefully you can get some answers soon then. Where about in the UK are you?? I am Paisley xxx

  • That's good, did they tell you what type it was? At first they said mine was DCIS but after the lumpectomy when i received the letter it said IDC with some remaining DCIS (hence the radio).

That's a shame, we could of been radio buds but I'm in Hertfordforshire! LOL Maybe when we are both C free we should meet up for a LARGE wine and unhealthy food! haha :) xxx

  • That sounds like a good plan re the food and wine. Lol xxx

  • Hi Worried,

I am so sorry to hear that it is cancer, but I am glad to hear that it is low grade and that you have caught it early. Have you decided what surgery you're going to opt for yet? It is always so difficult to decide when you don't have all of the facts to hand - You may find it helpful to write down a list of any questions you have. Take this to your appointment on Monday and ask any questions you need to. Did they say what type of breast cancer you have?

They usually remove a few lymph nodes at the time of surgery to ensure that the lymph nodes are clear, but it is reassuring that so far, they look clear.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

No I haven't decided yet. Still trying to process everything.  I have a lot of info to read up on that the hospital gave me, so will need to do that over the weekend.Thank you. Xxx

  • Hi Worried,

Whatever decision you reach, I sincerely hope that it'll be the right one for you.

    Kind regards,
