Carcinoid tumor in lung

I have just been diagnosed with a carcinoid tumor in my right lung. Im a 70 yr old female. I'm told its not spread at all and am waiting to discuss treatment which im told will be either a wedge disection or a lobotomy. Its apparently quite rare and I wondered if anyone else has had the same . Im not frightened of the operation to have it removed im more worried about the convalescence as I live on my own and not sure how I will be physically and how long it takes.

  • Hello Pongoluton and welcome to the forum, although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with a carcinoid tumour in your right lung.

I know this must be a scary and worrying time, but it's good to hear that the cancer hasn't spread and that it can be removed through surgery.

Hopefully some of our members who have had a wedge dissection or a lobotomy will be along soon to share their experiences and advice, but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to address your queries and concerns about recovering after this operation.

We're thinking of you Pongoluton and sending all our support your way.

    Kind regards,
