Radioactive iodine treatment

Hi my daughter is due to have radioactive iodine treatment due to her having thyroid cancer.  The consultant said he will be giving her a high dose 3,000 mbq.  I am really worried about this as she will be staying in hospital for 2 days. Has anyone had a high dose and did you have any side effects.

    Hey, I had a dose of 3,685mBq. The only side effect I had was a nose bleed about 10 days later. Otherwise, it didn't have any effects whatsoever. It's annoying because of the isolation and all but it doesn't make you feel sick or cause any pain or anything. If it had been done without my knowing, I would have had no idea whatsoever that anything had been done.

    Thanks this is really reassuring. We felt ok about tje RAI treatment when we was first told about it. But what made us nervous was when the consultant said he wanted my daughter to have a higher dose. Thanks for your reply.
