1st radiotherapy treatment on breast best creams to use

Hi,

I had my first radiotherapy treatment on my left breast this morning and this evening my breast feels hot a little tingly and just a bit uncomfortable . I’ve used my moo goo moisturiser and also taken paracetamol which seems to have helped slightly.

ive read that hydrocortisone cream may help and also cornstarch for soreness from sweating.

I’d like some advice on others experiences please and any recommendations for what creams and skin applications worked for you?

Many thanks

  • Hi I've just finished radiotherapy for a different cancer. I initially used E45 for my skin but once it got soar I told the radiotherapy people and they gave me some cream to use, so I would ask at your next session. One thing I would say is let them know what you are using as there are things you shouldn't use. Good luck with everything. Xx

  • I have used Nivea Soft during my 20 radiotherapy sessions and have continued to use it every day since then. My last radiotherapy was on August 5th and the skin on the breast and axillary scar look perfectly normal. I have almost finished a large tub bought from Superdrug and it is worth every penny!

  • I used Aveeno, as recommended by the hospital during my 9 radiotherapy sessions and continue to use it today (finished in August).  Skin is really good and I didn't have any burning sensation during treatment or after.  Definitely ask at your next session as there are many creams you shouldn't use because of their ingredients that can irritate the skin.
